Adult & Teen Discussion Guide
There’s a spiritual war going on all around us for the souls of our friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. The powers of hell are formidable, the stakes are eternal – and it’s up to us to fight back on the front lines.
2 Corinthians 4:4 [ESV] “… the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
Our enemy is powerful, but his most dangerous tactic is not strength, it’s misdirection. The spiritually lost people around us are in trouble because they have no idea they’re lost at all.
Q . What are some tools Satan uses to blind people to the gospel? Are those more or less effective than they were 20 years ago? Why?
Q . Which person is in more danger, the one who thinks he/she doesn’t need a savior, or the one who thinks he/she is good with God, but has no relationship with Him? Which do you think is more common in your community?
2 Corinthians 10:4–5 [ESV] “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…”
Satan may be strong, but the Holy Spirit is stronger. God has tasked us with fighting back. We have all the tools we need to dispel the lies and bring the truth of the gospel to our community – we just need to use them.
Q . If the Holy Spirit’s presence is what empowers us to fight back, how big of a role does daily prayer and study play in that? How does that change your perspective on discipleship?
Q . When you consider that we – as the church – are God’s pathway to save the lost, and there is no backup plan, how does that change your sense of personal responsibility? Does that make you feel important, intimidated, or something else?

Don’t Give Up
1. Power Verse
Luke 18:27 “What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
What’s Up: “It’s Never Too Late For A Miracle!”
This week, we continue our series called, “Elisha: God’s Powerful Prophet.” In this lesson, we learn from an amazing story of a widow in desperate need of God’s POWER! She found out that God can take the little bit we have and turn it into something amazing! We learn that God is our source, and, when we obey him, blessing follows obedience. God can use what little we have to do POWERFUL things!
2 Kings 4:8-37 “You will hold a son in your arms,” Elisha said. “It will be about this time next year.” “No, my master!” she objected. “You are a man of God. So please don’t lie to me!” But the woman became pregnant. She had a baby boy. The child grew. The boy said to his father, “My head hurts! It really hurts!” “Carry him to his mother.” The boy sat on her lap until noon. Then he died. She said, “Please send me one of the servants and a donkey. Then I can go quickly to the man of God and return.” She came to Mount Carmel. That’s where the man of God was. “My master, did I ask you for a son?” she said. “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t make me hope for something that won’t happen’?” So Elisha got up and followed her. Elisha arrived at the house. The boy was dead. He walked back and forth in the room. Then he got on the bed again. He lay down on the boy once more. The boy sneezed seven times. After that, he opened his eyes.“Take your son.” She came in and fell at Elisha’s feet. She bowed down with her face toward the ground. Then she took her son and went out.
Q. What impossible thing did Elisha tell the woman would happen in a year? What happened?
Q. When the boy turned 7 years old and died, who did the woman go to and ask for help?
Q. What did Elisha do? What happened to the boy?
Q. How can you be faithful to God? What talents or abilities do you have to use?
In this world, we face a lot of difficult situations. Sometimes those difficult situations seem absolutely impossible to us. Especially when something happens and it seems like it’s too late for any kind of answers. However, God knows what we need! He is a God of miracles, and we should never give up because, with Him, it’s never too late! With God’s POWER, we can face the impossible in our lives!
Q. What miracle do you need? What impossible situation are you facing? What do you know about God that should give you confidence in His ability to do a miracle in your life?
Q. How should you pray when you are facing an impossible situation and need a miracle?
